Wheatlands self-catering weekend away for 12 people

Wheatlands is a beautiful Karoo working farm that is steeped in 8 generations of family history. Wheatlands is a highly regarded Angora Goat Stud and Merino sheep farm. Since the Parkes family has owned it, Wheatlands has produced its own brandy, experienced the splendour of the Ostrich boom and led the way in ethical Merino wool and Angora mohair production.

The house boasts high, pressed ceilings, wood-panelled walls, beautiful handcrafted stained glass windows, book-lined corridors and antiques that have been collected through the generations.

Accommodation is exceptionally comfortable in the large, antique furnished rooms. Snuggle up in the corner with a book and enjoy the house’s peaceful atmosphere or go for a walk in the veld and appreciate the natural beauty of your surroundings. The house sleeps 12. Elegantly appointed and comfortable 2 en-suite king/twin bedrooms and 4 twin rooms. There are 2 en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower, 1 shared bathroom with shower and 1 shared bathroom with bath.

Self-Catering – Fully equipped kitchen, pantry and scullery. Meals can be served by prior arrangement at an additional fee. There is a dining room and lounge with fireplace along with a formal lounge/parlour and TV Room/Library.

Amenities – Wifi, bed warmers, stoep and braai facilities.

Activities – Bird watching and indigenous game viewing. Scenic drives, walking, cycling and veld picnics.

Depending on the season of your visit, you might be able to experience a busy shearing session or watch the newborn lambs or kids playing in the lands.

Wheatlands not only has domestic (many friendly dogs) and farm animals, it also boasts of natural wildlife such as the Springboks and Kudus who roam the veld and sneak in at night to snack on the flower gardens.
